A Midsummer Night Dream is a play written by the late William Shakespeare. This play is about a love triangle how one loves the other when the other does not like them until finally it all ends in a resolution, as they have a secret fairy world looking over at them, this play is almost like a mix between the fantasy world and the real! This shows Bottom likes to be in charge and tries to take over when ever he gets the chance. Bottom also rather likes to make everything so much more dramatic and silly even in the most unnecessary situations, when he bellowed “o night, o night alack, alack, alack now die, die, die, die, die.” Showing Bottom to exaggerate too much to the point of being immature, it also make the play sound a little unprofessional as he repeats some of the words maybe a little too many times and the character should sound a bit more miserable as in the play he has just killed…
Bottom shows concern for others when he announced to his workmates “a lion among the ladies is a most dreadful thing”. This shows Bottom worrying about fellow beings and looks after them to make sure that everyone is looked after and safe. He also is a very good problem solver as he can be a very useful teammate such as when he exclaimed “I have a device to make all well.” This shows he addresses the worry that the ladies and children will think that the killing is real, so he comes up with the idea to write a prologue. He is also knowledgeable in the theatre business such as when he advises Quince “I will discharge it in either your straw-colour beard, your orange-tawny beard”. This shows he knows a little about costumes meaning he has experience in theater before this is helpful for his workmates as his knowledge will definitely be useful.
Bottom is a very dedicated man as when they all are preparing the play he wanted to take the time to have extra rehearsals, when he proclaims “we will meet and there we may rehearse”. Showing Bottom to be dedicated and passionate about this play, and wanting to make this a sensational play!
He is also a natural leader which is great for an organized play, this shows when one of his workmates says “what say you, Bottom”. This shows that they rely and depend on him and the respect his opinion.
