I love English language! I think it’s amazing that there are so many words to choose from, and that we can use them in so many different ways. It’s a very expressive language, and I enjoy using it to communicate with others. I also appreciate the fact that English is widely spoken around the world, which makes it a great tool for communication and travel. My views on the English language, both grammatical and literary, have evolved many times throughout my life. These shifts occurred as I was influenced by my family and various instructors throughout my academic career. My parents began reading to me when I was very young. When I was only six months old, my parents acquired me a number of plastic books.
These books were filled with bright colors and interesting shapes, and they were meant to help my parents teach me how to read. I was not born in the United States, so learning English was essential if I wanted to be able to communicate with other people in this country. My family also placed a great deal of importance on education.
My parents both immigrated to the United States in order to receive a better education, and they passed this belief on to me. They believed that if I received a good education, then I would be able to accomplish anything that I desired in life. As a result of these influences, I placed a great deal of importance on learning English. In addition, I was always willing to do whatever it took to improve my understanding of the English language.
Throughout my academic career, I had a number of different teachers who helped to shape my feelings about the English language. In elementary school, I was taught by a number of different teachers, each with their own methods and approaches to teaching. Some of these teachers were very strict, while others were more laid back. As a result, I experienced a wide range of teaching styles, which helped me to develop my own views on the best way to learn English. In high school, I had a few different English teachers.
One of these teachers was particularly helpful in shaping my views on the English language. This teacher always pushed me to do better, and she frequently gave me feedback on my writing. She also encouraged me to read more, which helped me to develop a love for literature. Overall, this teacher had a positive impact on my view of the English language.

My parents used simple picture books to teach me how to identify pictures of items and connect them with their specific names. When I was only a year old, my parents began reading to me in order to help me increase my vocabulary. My mother particularly remembers sitting next to me as she read Sesame Street novels. I can recall numerous tales that were read to me over and over again, so I could memorize them. Before I could read for myself, I was able to recite my favorite stories.
My parents also watched a lot of English language movies and TV shows. I grew up watching Sesame Street, Barney, Blue’s Clues, and Dora the Explorer. I enjoyed these shows because they were interactive and taught me new words and phrases. As I continued to watch these English language shows, I began to understand more and more of what was being said.
I started school when I was six years old. At first, I was placed in an English as a Second Language (ESL) class because my parents had not yet taught me how to read or write in English. However, after only a few months in ESL classes, I was moved into a regular English classroom. I quickly caught up to my classmates and was soon reading and writing at the same level as them.
I am now fluent in English and consider it to be my first language. I am grateful to my parents for exposing me to the English language at a young age. If they had not done so, I would not be the proficient reader and writer that I am today.
