Many people do not realize the impact of the oil spills that occur in the ocean. It is like putting water into a heated oil frying substance. It is quite catastrophic. With all the oil spills that have already occurred it is important to help clean ,and prevent oil spills from reoccuring. There is indeed a lot of reasons as to why we should clean and help prevent oil spills from happening but here are the three main reasons.
First reason being oil spills cause immense harm to the marine habitats that intern affect the entire ecosystem disrupting its cycle. A second major reason being is all the things that the oil contains and where they go. The third reason we found that plays a major role involving risks that not only the marine life face but us as well. These are the three major reasons as to why people should help clean and help prevent oil spills that occur in the ocean.

Long-term ecological effects that contaminate or destroy the marine organic substrate and thereby interrupt the food chain are also harmful to the wildlife, so species populations may change or disappear”.
The article meant that a lot of species that had been swimming, sitting, or even breathing in the oil had taken a turn for the worst and had been badly injured or most likely died which is one of the major effects that could continue to grow if nothing is done. Oil can be harmful to the marine life and our community. “Together with natural gas, it makes up petroleum, which is Latin for “rock oil”. Petroleum is basically a mix of naturally occurring organic compounds from within the earth that contain primarily hydrogen, carbon and oxygen.
When petroleum comes straight out of the ground as a liquid it is called crude oil if dark and viscous, and condensate if clear and volatile. When solid it is asphalt, and when semi-solid it is tar. There is also natural gas, which can be associated with oil or found alone“ stated by San Joaquin Valley Geology. Oil comes in colors and forms. If oil spills into the ocean it takes away the home of the marine life and cuts off our food system.
That is why we must clean and prevent oil spills from happening so that we can have a clean ocean and a food source. So basically marine life are being affected and most likely some or most of the sea life are not going to be sustainable to eat from. With no resources from the ocean we will not have many sources of food.
Inhaling and digesting oil into the body is very harmful, toxic, and it may cause tumors to grow in your body, Office and response and restoration explains. Oil does not only affect human but also affects the sea life. If we do not try and clean up the ocean that has oil spills. The marine life will die out and we won’t have any clean ocean water or some of the food sources we eat from the ocean to rely on. Cleaning up the oil from the ocean may be expensive but the outcome of the situation is that the water will be clean and oil free.
There are other alternatives in not using gas or oil. It would be best to use energy efficient, or anything that does not concise in using oils and gases. The world will become cleaner, the ocean and marine life will not suffer no more from oils. Although we may not have the money to switch to the alternative things like electric cars and etc. We must try and stop using oil because it is killing off the marine life and ruining our ocean water. We need to stop relying on oil. That is why we need to help prevent oils spills from happening.
