No Stranger To Me Analysis Essay

As a college student bad writing is no stranger to me. On my journey to become a great writer I have made many mistakes and you should as well. No Author writes a perfect story the first time, It takes a great deal of revision and hours of word choice to make sure the reader comprehends what is intended to be narrated. This can be very difficult and has been for me as a young writer. George Orwell talks about many different examples of bad writing and what makes this writing so bad such as complex writing and how it is very easy to write but makes it extremely difficult for readers to comprehend. There are four major questions that Orwell asks himself when reading text from other writers as well as his own.
“Lady wants ride to southwestern Pennsylvania. Will more then share expenses.” This is a decent statement but is very vague. One question orwell asks us to take in to consideration is; what am I trying to say? In this small statement the writer intends to…

“This is the first time there is an institutional support said Martin Livingston, the director of the drug prevention program in District 30 in Queens”. “for the morale of the drug workers, it is a shot in the arm”. This is one example of poor choice of words. For one that is trying to express importance of drug use such as the director of a drug prevention program, using the saying “it is a shot in the” is just out right ridiculous. This immediately tells the readers the amount of sympathy the author/directors have for the reader. This passage tells nothing about the lack of support they’ve had in the past or plans to go forward with the drug problem. Orwell tells us that images and idioms make it writings much clearer for the reader. In this case I’m not sure if imagining a shot in the arm is the best Image we went to give the readers that are concerned about the drug problem in our neighboring…
