What Is The Message Of Animal Farm

Animal Farm is an allegory written by George Orwell to show the true nature of Communism. Animal Farm follows many similarities between Animalism, or Animal Farm’s governmental structure, and Communism. Animalism goes against many beliefs that are seen in Stalinist Russia, which is where Animal Farm represents. The use of language in Animal Farm shows how propaganda affected the Animal’s minds and Animal Farm as a whole. Animal Farm also follows the rise and fall of Animalism. Animal farm has characters that represent those historical figures, such as Napoleon representing Joseph Stalin and Snowball representing Leon Trotsky.

Animal Farm is not just about Communism but rather it is about all forms of government where one person or group dominates over another against their will. The plot of Animal Farm relates to the plot of Animalism because both plots follow each other throughout Animal Farm. The plot begins with Old Major telling the animals about how he wishes for Animal Farm to run without human interference and can help take care of itself by following three commandments: 1) no animal shall drink alcohol 2) no animal shall kill another animal 3) all animals are equal.

After Old Major dies a revolution takes place, which is Animalism’s equivalent of Animal Farm’s Rebellion. The Rebellion takes place against the humans and follows Animalisms three main commandments to always help one another, work together and no animal can drink alcohol. These rules are followed until Napoleon comes into power. Napoleon plays the role of Joseph Stalin in Animal Farm because he uses propaganda to make himself seem greater than he is by creating Squealer who serves as his personal “yes man.

Squealer talks with Napoleon behind closed doors to create propaganda, which convinces the animals that Animal Farm is running smoothly even though it isn’t. Animal Farm then begins a communist structure where all animals have equal rights and give their milk and apples to Animal Farm first. Animal Farm then begins to take on humans’ jobs, which would be Animalism’s equivalent of the process of collectivization under Stalin’s rule. Napoleon explains Animalism with his seven Commandments which consists of seven rules that all animals must follow without question or Animal Farm will face consequences for not following them.

The Seven Commandments are: 1) no animal shall sleep in a bed 2) no animal shall drink alcohol 3) no animal shall kill another animal 4) no animal shall wear clothes 5) no animal shall use an elevator 6) all animals are equal 7) all animals must work. Napoleon changes the seventh commandment into “all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others. ” Animal Farm begins to face consequences from other farms during Animalism’s equivalent of the Moscow Trials where animals are arrested without reason and were executed.

Animal Farm then begins to use propaganda against any animal who opposes Animal Farm, which is Animalism’s equivalent of informers. Animal farm follows Animalism until the end when Napoleon becomes a dictator and uses violence to get his way while leading Animal Farm into a totalitarian state because he wants power over everyone else. This is Animalism’s equivalent of Stalin turning into an absolute ruler. Animal Farm’s language relates to Animalism because there must be a certain tone that all animals follow so they do not get punished by Napoleon for not doing their job correctly or getting caught doing something.

Animal Farm establishes Animalism as a thought police and Animal Farm as Animalism’s equivalent of the KGB. Animal farm also uses Animalism’s language to show how powerful Napoleon is compared to everyone else since they always use “we” when speaking, which would be Animalism’s equivalent of “party speak” where those who are part of the party follow certain phrases such as “comrade” which was Animal Farm’s version of Stalin’s personality cult where he was praised by titles such as “great leader. ” Animal Farm has examples of similes and metaphors throughout Animal Farm with their own definitions.

A simile in Animal Farm relates to the characters and represents what they really mean or what they really do. Animal Farm also has metaphors throughout Animal Farm that represent what Animalism means. Animal Farm uses metonymy with the slogans Napoleon uses to say Animalism is taking over Animal Farm, which would be Animalisms equivalent of Stalin’s cult of personality where he was always praised by titles such as “great leader. ” Animal farm’s language contributes to Animalism message because it shows how much power Napoleon has over everyone else and how Animalism works.

Animal farm’s language also represents the Animalism equation because all animals are equal but some are more equal than others, which relates to the commandment “all animals are equal. ” Another example of the animal farm using its language to show Animalisms equivalence is when it states “and though some animals were shot, there was no place on Animal Farm where you could not hear the rattle of wagons or the hum of human voices” which shows Animalities equivalent to the Moscow Trials and Stalin’s rule. Animal Farm also uses Animalisms language to represent Animalism as Animal Farms thought police and Animal Farms equivalence of the KGB.

Animal farm’s symbolism relates to Animalism because symbols such as songs create an idea that all animals should believe in, such as “Beasts of England” which was Animal Farms version of The Internationale. Animal Farm has other symbols such as Napoleon who is symbolic towards how power corrupts those who possess it and lead themselves over everyone else by having fear over what they might do next by using violence to get their way while Animal Farm establishes Animalism as Animal Farms thought police and Animal Farms equivalence of the KGB.

Animal farm also uses other symbols such as The Windmill, which represents Animal Farms equivalent to the Five Year Plan, which represented how Stalin was planning on making Russia a superpower in five years by having all animals work towards it while Napoleon wanted to make Animal Farm into the most powerful farm in England.

Animal Farm’s symbolism contributes to Animalism message because it shows that power corrupts those who possess it by showing what happens when someone is greedy with power after becoming corrupted because animal farm shows its consequences. Animal Farm also uses Animalisms symbols throughout Animal Farm to show what Animalism means or what Animalism stands for. Animal Farm’s symbolism also contributes to Animalisms message because Animal farm has Animalities own thought police and Animal Farms equivalent of the KGB in Animalism.

Animal farms language, similes, metaphors, symbols, and Animalisms message all contribute to what Animalism means by making Animalism seem like Animal Farms version of Stalin’s personality cult where he was praised by titles such as “great leader. ” By using Animalisms equation “all animals are equal but some are more equal than others,” which relates to the commandment “all animals are equal;” Animal Farm establishes itself as Animalisms equivalent of Stalin’s rule or Stalin’s cult of personality.
