Argumentative Essay On Women Equality

In the year 2015, there is a fight for equality across the world. For hundreds of years women have been in the race to gain equality. It is true women have gained the right to vote and work, but this does not mean the female population are truly equal. Although feminism is considered a non-issue in 2015, it is needed now more than ever. Although, women now have the right to work and be able to make the decision to make money for their family, there is still inequality. For example, women in the work force make a fair amount less than men do.

According to Aboutnews. com women makes seventy-eight cents per every dollar a man makes. For every dollar a man makes, women make twenty-two cents less than they do, which becomes significantly noticeable when income is higher. Alongside women in general jobs making less money than men, high powered, well educated women are also being discriminated against. Inequality does not stop as women climb the work force ladder. Women can have the same job as a man in a very well respected and powerful business, but yet fail to receive the equal amount of money a man does.

America’s top female CEOs earn, on average, 33 cents for every dollar earned by a male (Lowen 1). Even as a CEO of a company women fall short of earning not even half of what a man makes. Women have been discriminated against for many years, but that has never stopped them from fighting back. Women are fighters. Dictionary. com defined feminism as an organized movement for the attainment of such rights for women. Feminism is not just a movement, it is a family, a pack. It is a sisterhood. For years women have banded together to make an impact on a world who tries to push them on the back burner.

Feminist are not moonstruck or delirious, they are hopeful and passionate, and fully believe in what they are fighting for. Women face many obstacles every day and they fight with all they can, but there are issues and concerns women have on a day to day basis, besides a wage gap, they fear for their lives as soon as they step outside. Women constantly live in fear of their lives as soon as they walk outside, due to a history of women being assaulted by men. Women never know whether it is safe to go out on a weekend or step outside their front door, because men target them.

According to Aboutnews. om one out of every four women will experience domestic violence and one of every six women will experience sexual assault/rape in her lifetime. Women should not be in constant fear of someone abusing or taking advantage of her. Women are fearful and are allowed to be, but this does not make them weak. Women not only are strong, but they are brave and feminism promotes this entirely. “I have met brave women who are exploring the outer edge of human possibility, with no history to guide them, and with a courage to make themselves vulnerable that I find moving beyond words” said Gloria Steinem.

Feminist have been fighting for years, conquering the impossible, and standing up to men who pushed them down for too long. Feminist are the ideal representation of women across the globe, yet they struggle day to day. Fighting off attackers are not the only problems women are fighting. Women have formed many groups and created a plethora of bills to bring to congress to raise awareness of the inequality they face every day. Women from all over the United States came together to put together an International Bill of Rights for Women.

Aboutnews. com stated although, women have made multiple attempts to ratify a UN treaty guaranteeing the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women, the U. S. refused to support an International Bill of Rights for Women, despite the fact nearly every other nation on the planet signed it (Lowen 1). The U. S. claims to support women’s rights all across the board, but refuse to support a practical, well deserved Bill of Rights that many other nations signed off on. Feminism is need in today’s society more than ever.

After women were granted the right to vote, the movement simmered down and the spark was lost. Women have been discriminated against for hundreds of years and in the year 2015, it is a movement that needs to reappear. Feminists are not women who hate men, or want to be better than them. Feminist are not insane or dreaming too big, they are women who want equality for all. Many look down on feminist for having too high of hopes or taking action on their dreams, but that will not stop them. Feminist are powerful, persistent, beautiful women with a strong will and a brave heart.

The world’s perception of women is skewed and they are prepared to fight back for as long as it takes. In the year 2015, there are many issues women deal with on a daily basis, which leads to the necessity to reinstate feminism in today’s society. Women struggle with wage gaps, a consistent fear of being attacked and violated, and being denied their human rights of equality. Although, women have come a long way from where they were a hundred years ago, there is still a necessity of feminism in today’s society. The difference of anatomy between men and women should not determine the course our lives take.
