Being a junior in high school has its perks: I have more high school experience, I earn more freedoms as I get older, and I am only a year away from graduation. Despite these good things, being a junior is not always easy. There is a significant problem that I have to address: my future. It is a big, abstract puzzle that demands to be solved. Since the only thing standing between me and legal freedom is my final year of high school, I have to make plenty of preparation for my future.
Every student prepares for their future beyond high school in different ways; for me, I use the resources that are given to me in order to propel me toward an excellent future. The most prominent resource I have is school. My school offers AP classes that I can take so I can obtain certain credits by the time I enter college, giving me more time to focus on my desired major. Thankfully, there are also teachers in my school who are willing to take the time to help me grow intellectually and address my weaknesses, and I capitalize on these opportunities.
I will always be learning new things, and having the chance to learn them in a way that best benefits me is great because I will be used to learning new things whether that be in an educational or professional environment. After all, school is not only for learning academics, it is used to guide students on the path to success. With this in mind, I come to school ready to engage with my teachers and learn important things that will take me one step closer to a brighter future.
The education students had in school was much different from the education I receive today because I currently live in the age of the internet. The web holds many interesting things for me besides Youtube and social media. There are plenty of websites dedicated to helping students academically prepare for their futures. Almost all the time I use these websites to look into colleges that are my best fit and to learn more about what my desired career path holds for me. The best part is that the information I get can always be updated the instant something changes.
The time I spend researching improves my research and computer skills, which I will need in the professional world. This is essential because the future changes, and the more I keep up with that change, the higher chance I have of being accomplished by the time I am an adult. I don’t believe that I would be efficiently learning in school, doing research, or even be applying for this scholarship if it weren’t for my parents. They are the ones who push me to live a better life than them, to be the best at what I want to do, and to work hard.
One of the best things they do is give me advice on how to get to where I want to be. “We know that it’s hard, but you can do it,” they encourage. It truly is encouraging to have parents who believe in me. They make me to trust that I can be successful in the future. My parents truly are one of the best resources that I have. Most of the ways I ready for my future are academic, but another way I do is by maintaining good sexual health.
I am highly aware that I live in a world in which some people become sexually active when they are younger than me. , however, I am abstinent; this is not because my parents tell me I shouldn’t have sex or because I hate boys; it is because being abstinent guarantees me good sexual health, and point in my life in which being sexually healthy is one of the best things for me. Even though I am not currently in a romantic or sexual relationship, I surround myself with healthy relationships, ranging from friendships to family to even decent acquaintanceships. In those relationships are people who motivate me to be a better person and just make me happy; they even encourage me to maintain my sexual health by teaching me what a healthy relationship should be.
They also, in a way, prepare me for a good future because they keep me from giving up when life seems too hard and they inspire me to do my best. In fact, because I have these beneficial relationships, I know that I should seek out relationships such as these when I go into college and my career. The healthiest relationships, sexual and not, are the ones that can keep someone going despite what hardships might come up in life. Those are the resources I use in my day-to-day life to help prepare for my future.
I know that there are some students who can not go to school, don’t have access to the internet, or even meone that they can trust. Everyday I am incredibly grateful that I have all of these things in my life to help me. My method is not magic, I just put the important things in my life to good use and remind myself that these things will help me in the long run. By using my resources and continuing to sustain positive relationships, I know that the big abstract puzzle called the future is going to be solved.
