“We came equals into this world, and equals shall we go out. ” Based on the Constitution, it is possible for individuals in society to achieve equality because the First, Nineteenth, Third and Thirteenth Amendments give citizens of the United States freedoms that were not originally given in the Constitution. Most of the Amendments give reasons for equality in the U. S. For Example, the First Amendment gives freedom of speech, religion, press, and the right to assemble and petition.
The Constitution gives equality in the United States because they give citizens freedoms that were not originally given in the Constitution. On the other hand, people may think that the Constitution does not give equality because some of the Amendments do not sound like they give for equality, but in a way they do. The Constitution does give for equality and freedom in the United States because of the Amendments today. Amendments I and XIX give freedom and equality in the United States.
Amendment I states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievance. ” This means congress will make no laws about religion or not allowing the ability to practice religion, limiting the ability to speak freely, having the ability to inform the public about news, assemble peacefully to protest, or question the Government about unfair practices.
The First Amendment does allow for equality because it gives all people the right to have freedom of speech, religion, press, petition, and assembly. The Nineteenth Amendment states, “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any States on account of sex. ” This means the right of citizens of the United States to vote will not be taken away or limited by the United States based on gender. Amendment XIX does allow for equality because it allows everyone in our society male or female, white or African American, to vote.
The First and Nineteenth Amendment gives equality and freedom for the United States. Amendments III and XIII do allow for equality and freedom in the United States. Amendment III states, “No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law. ” This means no Soldier will, in time of peace be kept in any house, without the permission of war, but in a way to be allowed by the law. Amendment III does allow for equality because it makes sure that soldiers can’t take over a house without the owner’s permission.
The Thirteenth Amendment states, “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. ” This means slavery and unwilling service, except as a punishment for a crime the person is convicted of, will exist within the United States or any place that is a U. S. territory. Amendment XIII does allow for equality because it stops a lighter man from making a darker man a slave.
The Third and Thirteenth Amendments allow equality and freedom for the United States. Amendments XV and II are two Amendments that some people would think would not give equality and freedom in the United States. Other people may believe that Amendment XV does not allow for equality because it states, “The right of the citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. ” However, they would be wrong because it lets more people, not everyone, have equality in the United States by oting.
For example, this amendment gives rights and equality to all the men in society. In addition, they also may think that the Second Amendment does not allow for equality because it states, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. ” However, they would again be wrong because if you are over the age of 18 you can have a weapon to protect yourself unless you are a felon. For example, this amendment gives rights to everyone over the age of 18 and other people that are not felons.
The Fifteenth and Second Amendments are Amendments that some people would assume to not give equality or freedom but they are wrong. The Constitution does give equality in the United States because they give citizens freedoms. Amendments I and XIX do give equality because the First Amendment gives freedom of speech, religion, petition, press, and assembly. The Nineteenth Amendment gives all women the right to vote in the United States and all of society. Amendments III and XIII give equality in the United States because the Third Amendment makes sure that a soldier cannot take over a person’s house without their permission.
The Thirteenth Amendment stops a lighter man from making a darker man a slave. Amendments II and XV are some Amendments that people would think do not give equality, but they are wrong because the Second Amendment makes sure if you are over the age of 18 you can have a weapon to protect yourself unless you are a felon. The Fifteenth Amendment allows all men to vote no matter what skin tone, race, or religion in all society. With all that being said, the Constitution does give for equality in the United States and the society.
