Essay about Mcculture And Globalization Case Study

McCulture has extended and has changed many traditions and cultures around the world. McCulture is a form of globalization that has entered societies life. Foreigners believe that McCulture is an American formed tradition; therefore, it should remain in America. Many Countries embrace their unique cultures and show disturbance when McGlobalization interferes, Tyler Cowen argues, “nothing gets one’s anti-globalization juices flowing more than the thoughts of a McDonald’s restaurant in France (Cowen).

McGlobalization is obligating different cultures to lack originality in their foods. When a McDonald’s enters a new region it automatically attracts fear into local business owners. For example, in France there may be many local business owners running a successful business but when a McDonald’s fast food restaurant is built and opened across their street it is going to bring conflict and possibly damage to their business.

McGlobalization is what is causing small local businesses to shut down and go out of business; McGlobalization carries many bad cultural starters and it is the beginning of the end of cultural originality. McGlobalization introduces and distributes many tasteful, addicting, and easy to distribute foods, beverages, and other general product to the public. McCulture is making many foreigners upset, they believe and argue that America is the starter of McGlobalization, and that McCulture was born and should remain in America.

McCulture has brought many negative aspects to the American society as well as other different cultures around the word; it has taken originality away from their unique cultures, obligated lower class citizens to pay more for food, it has made traveling less of a memorable experience, and McCulture has also been controlling of globalization.? There are many different cultures in the world to many that can be defined, but with McCulture being so successful the question is asked. Are all different cultures around the world claimed to be different but are truly the same?

McCulture is obligating Cultures to use the same brands, wear the same clothes and eat the same food. When one is in their home land they are expected to take part in traditional activities, not take part in activities they are obligated to do by the increase of McCulture. It is argues that McCulture is an American tradition and that it should remain in America Michael Prager writes, “It is a stalwart encounter in which Naim unflinchingly asks important questions about McDonald’s a pervasive purveyor of American culture outside America nd lightning rod of the anti globalization protest movement, and Greenberg gives no ground in response”(Prager). It does not make an American proud to admit that McCulture is an outcome of decisions they have all made and encountered. Globalization has always been known for its positive aspects, it brings the world together and McCulture has to be a serious issue for citizens to be anti globalization. McCulture is prospected as an American tradition because of all that it represents. For example, McDonald’s, and Coca-Cola are viewed through out McCulture and they are very popular products in America as well as all around the world.

McCulture has brought health problems to foreigners it has made it difficult to have options and make decisions outside of McCulture. Before fast food restaurants traveled worldwide people were eating out of their own kitchen, preparing meals to take to work and cooking Sunday dinner from scratch in the comfort of their own home; now McCulture gives them the easier option to simply purchase a fast meal at their local fast food restaurant, and for Sunday dinner most families now visit a restaurant and no longer sit in their own dinning room in their own home.

Many Americans and many citizens all around the world now have options, and although they may not be the wiser healthier option McCulture makes it the easier option to make and it is taken with out much consideration. Decisions made of an outcome of McCulture are what is making foreign traditions vanish and making them lack cultural originality.? Other than taking cultural originality away from foreign traditions McCulture is also forcing foreigners to pay more fore their necessities.

Members of Mexico City argue that food cost has increased and it makes them very upset, “a recent column in the Citizen argued that Mexico has the right to protect its farmers from cheap food. That’s fine for the farmers, but who is prepared to walk the slums of Mexico City and wish upon those inhabitants that they should pay more for food”? Mexico City citizens argue that they should not have to pay more for less food than what they were already receiving before for possibly the same amount.

Mexican farmers work distributing crops grown in their local land most of them being minimum wage. McCulture is forcing farmers to spend more on food than what they get paid distributing and farming it. Food is becoming unaffordable and McCulture is making that more expensive food less healthy for one to consume. It is argued to be unfair that one has to pay more for food that is now proven to be unhealthy and cause damage to ones well being, why should someone spend too much money on food that is going to bring harm to their health and bodies?

McCulture says that it is okay for people to spend the necessary money on unhealthy food. McCulture does not let their negative aspects be known to their consumers. McGlobalization is taking from foreigners by not only taking away from their traditions but also by obligating them to pay more for their food. Mexico City citizens have already shown to be upset with the outcomes of McGlobalization they are not happy about the fact that they are now being forced to pay more for their meals.

Citizens paying more for their food is another of many aspects that McCulture is to blame for. McCulture should stop entering foreigner’s homes and stop changing the way that they live.? When one takes a vacations and travels around the world to a different country or state what they look forward to experiencing the most are the foreign traditions. Do to McGlobalization now travelers are not seeing much of a difference from their home to the places that they are visiting.

Families take vacations and are seeing themselves eating at a McDonald’s restaurant instead of visiting a local food business for traditional meals. Paul Feine a director of innovation for the institute of human studies at George Mason University describes in an article that when he took a vacation with his family to Paris they had lunch at a McDonald’s fast food restaurant. Feine writes, “On a recent trip to Paris with my family, I was standing inside a McDonald’s restaurant gazing out at the street as my wife ordered Le Happy Meal for our two year old”(Feine).

Although there are many local restaurants in Paris where his family could have enjoyed a meal just as satisfying they chose to eat at McDonalds. I believe it is such a shame to spend time at a McDonalds restaurant when visiting Paris. If it weren’t for the increase of McGlobalization there would be no McDonalds in Paris and Fiene would have had no choice but to not only enjoy the landscapes in his visit to Paris, but he would also enjoy their local food.

Feine further argues that eating at McDonald’s while in his vacation to Paris were not his intention or in his plans, “we hadn’t traveled to Paris with the intention of eating at McDonald’s, but we were looking for a quick fix for our hungry little boy, and McDonald’s represented a cheap alternative to the more traditional cafes”(Feine). McCulture makes everything quick and easy and is why no matter where in the world it victims are increasing.

This is an aspects about globalization that should really bother people, especially the small business owners around the world, there is no way that they can compete with McDonald’s multi million dollar company, they do not stand a chance and McCulture will soon make all local businesses vanish. I believe that McDonald’s is an American known restaurant and I do not agree with taking it all around the world. When people travel they should be received with foreign dishes and tradition they shouldn’t eat lunch at a restaurant they have access to back home.?

McCulture is controlling globalization by strictly allowing certain things to become globalized. There are people who control globalization and those people are controlling society. They decide what we eat, drink and buy. McCulture is controlling globalization by decreasing its originality and creativity. It is controlling by limiting peoples options and decisions when making a purchase. An Example of McCulture controlling Globalization is the way society eats. When hungry one will much rather purchase a quick and easy meal from a fast food restaurant than cook a meal at home.

McCulture has provided many fast food restaurants in a single area to assure business. When one sees so many food options they can easily purchase and eat, cooking is automatically not an option. Professor of sociology at the University of Maryland, George Ritzer is interviewed about his thoughts on McCulture he states, “I mean the fundamental problem with McDonaldised systems is that it’s other people in the system structuring our lives for us, rather than us structuring our lives for ourselves. I mean that’s really what McDonald’s is all about” (Ritzer).

Ritzer argues that McCulture wants to control human and make them into their human robots. McCulture forbids people to add originality to their product, they want a script to be strictly followed daily. Globalization is about certain customs shared around the world, about introducing different unique traditions and McCulture in changing it to their own way of function they are changing it and it renames to McGlobalization. Now instead of different ideas being globalized the same exact idea and way of function is traveling all around the world.

McCulture is controlling Globalization and it is going to remain this way because it can’t be stopped. McCulture is manipulating by controlling the way society eats drinks and the way societ makes decisicions.? There are many things that are wrong with McGlobalization, and it is making many foreigner’s upset. “McDonald’s has grown from a family burger stand to a global fast-food behemoth, with more than 30,000 locations in 118 countries”(James). With over 30,000 locations McDonald’s seems to be dominant of any other food source and if the numbers keep growing McDonald’s is all tourist are going to be eating in their vacations out of state.

McCulture is taking away from all of the unique traditions there are worldwide, it is replacing homemade custom dishes and replacing them with a meal that is made exactly the same in 118 different countries. I was a victim of McCulture, I before would much rather run out to the Nearest McDonalds than to eat one of my mother’s home made dishes. This wasn’t because I didn’t find my mother’s Mexican cooking tasteful but because McDonalds was just so addicting. I used to eat McDonald’s at least twice a week, I used to travel to Mexico and remember eating McDonalds in the airport just because it was something I was familiar with and accustomed to.

Now I am more aware of the harm of fast food and have become more supportive of local family owned businesses. I can not remember the last time a had a burger from a McDonalds restaurant. Society should not be forced to follow McCultural customs and in order for each culture to keep its originality local business’ should not be replaced with McDonalds are any other McCultural Branch. Globalization extends and shares customs and idea all over the globe and McCulture has changed the ideas that have traveled worldwide.
