American Apparel has built a fast growing empire on some of the most risque, porn-influenced ads ever seen in mainstream media. Usage of the porn-influenced ads are in hopes of saving the company from financial troubles. Everyone knows that American Apparel ads are sexy. They usually feature coy, semi-dressed women lounging on a bed or sofa. Although this is a good way to catch the eye of consumers, they also lead to many problems with too much nudity exposure, which becomes may offensive to some of the public. American Apparel’s usage of high sex appeal will generally attract attention from the public, and the more attention towards the brand the more likely the brand will sell.

Celebs will attract their fans towards the brand and possibly even those who dislike them (haters). Since American Apparel centers all their ads around sex, the celebs that would best fit the company’s brand would probably come out of the adult entertainment industry. Adult entertainment stars, pornstars, are not real big name celebs but they are considered celebrities to much of the public depending on their rank in the business. The choice of pornstars to promote a brand sets the sex appeal really high for that brand and is bound to attract attention from the public. No need to tell the company who they should get to promote the brand as they chose adult entertainment star Lauren Phoenix. They then describe her as “150 pounds of magic” in hopes of persuading the reader to want to learn more about the model who is promoting the brand.
