Music has played a significant role throughout my whole life. All throughout middle school and high school I have been a performer, participating in many different musical organizations including orchestra and choir. These personal experiences have broadened my interests in music. In middle school I was in choice voices, which was a special singing group for people who excelled in singing. When I went to high school I stayed in the same program and even became senior section leader of my choir, conducting different songs at our concert and being in charge of different performances. During my childhood I was part of the choir at my church, and performed during the different holiday masses.

Whether the music is being played at a happy or sad event, the emotional aspect is always there for me. Music brings people together in many ways especially if it is a moving event. Tears will be shed, people will laugh, and all different types of emotions will fly, because music creates different emotions and feelings in each and every individual.
The main theme that I see is how singing can bring out so many different emotions in people. All of my singing that I have done in my life has somehow related back to feeling an emotion. From singing at Relay for Life to Singing during the holidays in my town, emotion was always floating in the air. Another example of music affecting me emotionally would be listening to my brother play his violin at my aunt’s funeral. His playing of the famous song Ave Maria was very touching and brought out tears in everyone because it was my aunts favorite song.
