He now feels the desertion of not one but two parents. The reader can recognize how this might drive Hamlet’s depression about the loss of his father even deeper. He feels as though he has no one and begins to question his father’s death, and most of all his mothers’ loyalty to his father when he was alive, as she was able to grieve and move on in such a short period of time. Following those life-changing circumstances, Hamlet receives word that his father’s apparition has returned in the silence of the dark.
