What pieces of the film, Stress, “The portrait of a Killer,” stood out most to you?
The pieces of the film “Stress, The Portrait of a Killer,” that stood out most to me is how Robert Sapolsky for almost 30 years, 80 hours a week been working on advancing our comprehension of stress. How he used baboon troops from east Africa to spell out how dominant baboons in our country especially the psychopaths in power, stresses us out mentally and physically with their bullying tactics, by ( testing their blood it showed the higher your rank the lower the levels were) to offices of government bureaucrats in London,(showing when you are a subordinate people higher up ‘dump’ their work on you and they are less stressed than you ) and to research universities,…
What surprise me Robert Sapolsky spent all this time researching stress to mentioned how he, and I quote “The reality is I am unbelievably stressed and Type A and poorly coping. Why else would I study this stuff for 80 hours a week? He went on to say “No doubt everything I advise is going to lose all its credibility if I kneel over dead from a heart attack in my early 50s. Now based on what the video stated that earlier on people thought that stomach ulcers came from stress and which it was proven it did not come from stress but from bacteria. So later on it was proven again that stress did contribute to stomach ulcers because the immune system was broken down by factors contributing to stress.
How did you cope? How might your coping style have affected your health?
I cope very well after a year with that diet. I do not know how my coping style might have affected my health, what I do know is that I became one of the most positive person alive and still is. I learn a lot from my father that year about things we have no control over like things, and people we would like to change that we cannot.
