To be selfless is to be concerned more with the needs and wishes of others rather than one’s own wishes; whereas to be self centered is to be preoccupied with oneself and one’s affairs. One may easily refer to someone as “self-centered” simply because that someone may be acting very vain. However, one has to be ignorant of others emotions, actions, etc. to be definitively considered self centered.
