The Stamp Act
A new act was passed by the Parliament in March 22 , 1765 and made colonist very mad. It was called The Stamp Act. The Stamp Act was a law passed by the Parliament because of the French and Indian war dept. The Stamp Act tax the colonist on any use of printed materials (newspaper, magazines, legal documents and etc.). The colonist had 7 month to think about the Stamp act before it took effect. In summer/ fall the Stamp Act the colonist staring public protests ,boycotts, town meeting and etc. They boycott the goods of british goods and the stamp tax collectors started to quit their jobs. In november 1, 1765 The Stamp Act took a effect on the colonies. The first time the 13 colonies leader got together and had a meeting and had agreement about The Stamp Act . The more affected colonies where the middle and southern colonies because of the population in those colonies but New England was affect that much. Also on March 24, 1765 a new act was passed two days after The Stamp Act. It was called the Quartering Act. The act was an act that required all people in the colonies to provide housing , food, and drink for the other 40,000 British troop in the 13 colonies. So they said that the 13 colonies are part of the war so let put another tax on them.. That tax is what we know it as the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act wasn’t like the sugar act because it was secretly tax but this act was directly to the 13 colonies. They had no one from the 13 colonies in the parliament so it wasn’t far for them to get tax. The Stamp Act official stamp was a crossbones stamp.
