The Visual Effects of The Cell
A film isnt a work of art unless its made with the right elements. Plot, cast, music, and most importantly, the visual effects are what make a film worth watching. The Cell is a movie filled with visual works from several different perspectives. The art work and scenery switched off with each person and place, adding a more dramatic effect to the story line. It further explains the backgrounds the main characters. The visual work in this movie was split between reality and fantasy, then built from there.
Reality set up the movie, giving it a base to start from. Everything in the reality was very generic and simple in color. Dull blues and greys, black and white, and a little bit of red all fill the screen…
She first enters on a black horse that eventually turns into a statue and approaches the boy by a small field made of white sand and dead trees. These props added to the theme of a lifeless and barren world that Edward is living though.This showed that this child was very lonely, and stuck. A moment of horror was added in when the nightmare haunting Edward is revealed. Edward is transformed into this creature that he calls “Mocky-Locky”, showing the audience that theres even more to the audience and that the artistic aspect isnt just in the scenery, but also the special…
This brought a pop of color to the sad and lifeless tale of both Edward and the killer. In her mind, a very enchanting color scheme and prop work brought out her character. Beautiful trees, a calming pool of water, and happy colors surrounded her. When the demon from Carls mind entered hers, however, she turned to a strong warrior. Blood was shed, and while looking realistic and forming a fearful feeling, the setting remained the same, a safe place.
Visuals and set design are very important to a movie.
