The surfer There was a boy who didn’t believe he had the capacity to be the world’s greatest surfer. One day he was watching videos on how people became successful and they said that you had to believe to succeed and so he did. Then with hard work, dedication, and believe he became what he wanted to be. The hot sun is out. He hears waves crashing into each other outside, seagulls cawing and people enjoying the view. He steps one foot outside touching the warmth of sand. He can smell the fresh pure air of the ocean. The birds chirping to the sun’s daylight.
The clouds floated away and bring more sunlight. His kid is playing outside and laughing. He can smell the sunscreen on his face and body. The wind thriving throughout his hair. He takes a big deep breath, the air filling up his lungs as he gets ready for a new day at the beach. “Dad are you going to come play with me or are you just going to stay there like a sitting duck” states his 10 year old son, Josh. As he answers him with a laugh. Then asks” do you have any homework or studying to do? ” “no” josh scarcely replicas. They both run out to the sea but then return back forgetting their surfboards.
Then Brad and josh were walking out to the beach [just one a side walk away from their house]when they both hear Kyla, Brad’s wife, yelling”Wait for me” They stopped and looked back and saw her running. Kyla got tired and josh and brad can hear her huffing and puffing trying to get air. As they were walking together she brings up josh’s construction project. Kyla states“ So Josh, what are you planning to do for your construction project? ” Josh replied “I would like to build a gingerbread house, I think it will be fun. ”
“Yeah, sure! ” Kyla replies. Where should we settle” Brad interrupts kyla and josh’s conversion. “We should put our blankets over there” she pointed. “Okay” Brad states. They got to the spot and settled. They placed their towels, surfboards, and the umbrella . When they were finish setting their stuff down they walk to the ocean to feel the cold water. They jumped into the water as they had a tickling sensation engulfing their body as the cold temperature quickly made them run to the rich sand. “It’s so cold! ” yelled Josh “I know, are you sure it’s suppose to be this cold brad? ” Kyla explained Brad laugh uncontrollable.
He picked up Josh and purposely started to splash him with cold water. As kyla came around to only see them having fun. After playing around they went to go get their surfboards to ride the big waves. “Are you ready champ? ” Brad said “You know it. ” Josh smiled “I’m going to go home to get ready to go buy the materials for your construction project. ” Kyla told Josh “Okay. ” Josh answered When kyla left, Brad and Josh went inside the water so that Brad can continue teaching Josh by showing him the basic of surfing. “One day dad I want to be the world’s greatest surfer. Josh said “I bet you will but you have to believing in yourself first more than anything to achieve your goal. ” Brad told JoshBrad added”. Did you know when I was a young adult I wanted to have world’s greatest son and have the world’s greatest wife, nothing more. To share my life and love with them. ”
Josh questioned “Did you ever reach that goal dad? ” Brand answered “Yes josh 10 years ago when you were born. ” “Im almost going to be 11 dad. ” Brad said ” Aren’t you excited, what want for your birthday? ” “A surfboard,” Josh suggested. ” A surfboard? ” question Brad So when I grow up I can be just like you” Josh said. It warmed brad’s heart knowing his son admired him so much. “I think we should head home, your mom must be waiting for us. ” Brad said. They told a warm shower and started getting ready to go buy the things for the gingerbread house. The following day Josh arrived at school. Too his sorrow the teacher announced to the kids to start getting ready for the test that they will be taking and it the test will impact their grades. Unfortunately, Josh got a bad grade on the test. Josh knew his parent will disappointed if they found out.
He also realized his birthday was tomorrow and he didn’t want to ruin it so he decided not to tell them. “How was school? ” asked Brad “It was… Okay” answered him nervously “Are you okay? ” worried Brad “Yea dad everything is fine. ” smiled Josh On the way home Josh didn’t make a sound but was strange because he usually talk. They talked to the teacher about his weird behavior and the teacher told them about his grade on the test. They were astonished that he had lied. As a punishment he told Josh he couldn’t have friend over for his brithday. Josh yelled “IT WAS JUST A TEST! ” “But you lied you shouldn’t have. said Brad “I hate you” sobbed Josh Josh slams his door and starts crying.
The next day kyla talk to Brad about the harsh punishment. They both agree to not tell Josh that his friends are coming over around 6:00. Kyla and Brad are setting up the party for Josh’s 11 year old birthday. Meanwhile Josh is in his room. Brad told kyla”,We have to be sneaky if we want this to work. ” “Yup” smiled Kyla The decorations are ready and people are set. They get him down and surprise him, but the birthday cake isn’t there. Brad goes and gets the keys to the car and drives to the nearest store.
After he purchased the cake he got into his car and was driving home. As he was driving, minding his own business, suddenly he hears a car’s wheels trying to stop. Bang! The car hits Brad’s car and seriously injures him. He’s in the hospital badly injured and the hospital contacts his family to tell them what happen. ” Are you Brad’s wife? ” the nurse asked “Yes, why,what happen? ” Kyla said “He meet with a terrible accident where a drunk driver was under the influence. your husband died in the operating table, but he left a note” The Nurse stated
Filled with the unbelievable sorrow she requested to see the note her husband had left for her and her son. “Okay, you will be receiving the letter as soon as possible. ” said the nurse “Okay” sobbed Kyla Josh received the news and was sad. It hurt him physically and mentally. He thought thing couldn’t get worst. She received the latter the next day the accident happen. It said I write to you and josh. I’m sorry for what I did and said. Tell josh I love him and I left him a surfboard so when he becomes the world’s greatest surfer he will use it. To you, kyla, you were the best thing that had ever happen to me.
I have to go and I don’t think I’m going to make it but I love you guys. Love you kyla and my champ. Love, Brad This made her burst out to tiers and josh had doubted about himself. So he was at home watching videos to past time and forget about the incident. He was watching motivational videos. He then heard this one successful person person talk about you have to believe to successful and sometimes move on. He then started to do good at school and started to practice surfing. He knew that he did wrong by hurting his dad. As days and years went by he became the world’s greatest surfer and love every one.
