Deferred dreams are an ongoing theme throughout the play Raisin in the Sun. In the play some people had their dreams deferred like Walter, Mama, and Beneatha.
Walter’s dream was to own a liquor store and have money so he can afford things for his family. Walter wanted to have a better job than his dad working job. He wanted to be the one in charge, the “Man”. Walter misplaced trust in Willy, who stole the money, and also the money for Beneatha.
Mama dream is to have a house because she has been waiting to own a house for thirty-five years. They weren’t able to save money because her husband and she were doing labor work.
And Beneatha’s dream is to become a doctor because she wants to assist people in Africa. Like Walter she has to hold back…
