Batman Begins Film Analysis Essay

In the movie Batman Begins Bruce Wayne watches his parents die right in front of his eyes. He grows up in solitude in his mansion with no friends and know one to talk to. He grows up to be a strong man who wants to do something good for his city. When he was old enough he was going to inherit his family’s company Wayne Enterprises, but he decided to talk a path to become a symbol for the people of Gotham, because Gotham was overrun with corrupt people who broke laws and made money off of everyone else trying to make a good living. This is Batman’s call to action, he is deciding to try to make things right in his city.

So Batman goes to join the league of shadows with his mentor Ra’s awl Ghul. He believed that this league of shadows would help him safe has city, but while training at the league of shadows he is asked to kill an innocent man for his final and he can’t do. This is his refusal of the call. He believes that he doesn’t have to kill this man to do good, he believes that he can protect his city without being a part of the league of shadows. Then he travels back to Gotham. He still plans to protect his city just not in the way the the League of shadows would have done it. This is Batman’s separation from the outside world.

When he creates his suit and starts to be Batman he goes out the first night to fight crime. He succeeds in doing this but get hurt with every shot he takes he is paying a price for his good doing and he needs stronger armor and weapons. He gets his aid from a friend who works at Wayne enterprises. Batman aid actually come to him after he has crossed the threshold. He is starting his new life of being Batman at night and Bruce Wayne during the day. This is the start of his Initiation. He has designed armor and weapons to stop crime in Gotham without using guns. This is Batman’s aid that helps him become Batman the protector of Gotham.

During Bruce Wayne’s first nights as Batman he is able to stop these bad gush but at a cost. This is Batman’s belly of the whale. This is his dark place where he has to draw the line between stopping crime and killing his body while doing so. As he continues to be batman at night he starts to follow and protect certain people like Rachel Dawes who he meet as Bruce Wayne during the day and really likes. This is Batman’s women temptress who he believes he has to protect no matter what happens. He really likes this girl and wants to be with her but knows that he can not tell her that he is Batman for her own protection.

This is Women temptress he is tempted to tell her his secret of being Batman but he can’t. As Batman continues to fight crime he starts to make powerful enemies. His biggest enemy in this movie is the Scarecrow. In Batman’s first encounter with the Scarecrow, the Scarecrow uses his most powerful weapon, mist that makes dilutional and see things. This is the Ultimate Boom where Batman starts a small war with the Scarecrow to protect his city. In a short time Scarecrow plans to release to toxic gas into the city’s water supply that will engulf the entire city toxic gas, allowing Scarecrow and his goons to take and steal anything they want.

This is still the Ultimate Boom when batman has to do anything and everything that he can to stop Scarecrow and his plan. During their big fight scene Batman Defeats the Scarecrow to save his city. After this fight Batman goes back to stopping small crime knowing that his city is safe from any major threats for the moment. This is Batman’s return, he is calming down to a somewhat normal life of being a multi million dollar owner of Wayne Enterprises as Bruce Wayne during the day, and being being Batman stopping crime at night.

Batman is still fighting crime in his city after this battle, he is still training because he knows some day crime and terror will return in a different form. This movie Batman Begins follows most of Joseph Campbell’s 17 stage Monometh. Not every singe stage but most of these 17 stages are shown in one way or another in this movie. Some stages are not included but the ones that are have direct relation the the theme of the movie. This movie gave good examples of the 3 sections and some of the 17 stages inside of those sections
