Which Way Home-EXTRA CREDIT

“Which Way Home.” is a Documentary filmed in 2009 about unparented child migrants who are traveling by themselves trying to get though Mexico to the United States. Why are people coming? Why are these Children coming? What is it like to be on this Journey? These are the questions that was asked in this film. The Producer wanted to show others what migration was like through these children. Other questions asked was “Why were these kids risking their lives? What the United States would be like?” The three main characters are Kevin, who’s 14 trying to get to the U.S to find work and bring back the spoils to support his mother in Honduras. Fito, who is 13 travels with Kevin Heading off to Amerca to find work as well, but to find a better life away from his Grandma and Mother who isn’t around much. Finally their is Yurico, Who is 17 heading to America from Chiapas, Mexico in hope of finding a family who would adopt him. Later meets up with Fito becoming close on the adventure towards the border. Alot of these children where in detention centers in Tapachula….

Most of these kids have reasons to come to the U.S. Their reasons are to find work, or a family who would care for them. On their Journey towards the border many things have happened from walking in the hot sun to riding the Freight Train, known as “The Beast” towards their hope of a better living situation. All these children have dreamed to go to the States. Among the 100 migrants coming at least 10 to 20 people have died. These Children have been raped and abandoned by smugglers. There Parents who have no faith in them say that they will not make it. A name these children are called The Invisable…
