What is freedom? To me freedom is the ability to do and think as you please but only to a certain extent. We have certain barriers in place for our own safety as individuals or as a nation itself. The fact that we have freedom is a gift itself we can have certain ability s to freely choose paths in life. In the article Learned Hands I am an American Day Address it states that we seek liberty and freedom from oppression, want and freedom from ourselves thus furthermore making our desire more intense. I will willingly admit we take some freedoms for granted and some more especially then others.
We take and take America is known for its freedom. That is us. In the article about President Ronald Reagan it talks about great examples of freedom like going into a town practically anywhere and you will see all of these different types of freedoms. You can take religion for example you will see a vast variety of churches and you may see certain signs of religions like someone wearing the clothing that represents their religion and they have that freedom to wear these things. It s written in the very first amendment. We get these amendments alongside our freedoms this is liberty.
We have inalienable rights that cannot be taken away. The rights we get are given to us the second we are born we are given the gift or life freedom and our parents raise us and they expect us to be something. We have the ability to do this by our freedoms. We can be a president we can be an engineer or build our own empire. But without freedom we would not be able to do this. It is not given in some other countries like it is here. We are so lucky to be able to have the ability s and rights to question things. We have lots of things in our nation.
Nationalities are one of the biggest vast wide variety things we have. We have 243 countries in this world and all of them are represented here. That is just insane to think about. We have to have certain protections to keep these freedoms for us. There are people in services for our country. We have things such as the services. We have our men willingly out there risking their lives for our country. We re sending them out to anywhere they are needed and they go to and a lot of them are away from their families and even home.
They get little contact and are getting injured and all sorts of people still somewhat have a grudge against our men. Thus furthering my point made earlier about Americans taking freedom for granted and it make us selfish I will admit. We become materialistic just like the article said. Americans are what everyone looks up to when they think of the life so to speak. Were the ideal people for everyone This is freedom. Our past has given us a bad reputation as well. We have had many bumps along the road into freedom.
Racism is something we have had around for a long time and it gave the ability to some people to be racist and have control over others. A great example of not having freedom would be slavery. We lived in poverty and had slaves in the 1800s. Then to now freedom has came along way and now every is equal. At least that’s what we think we have said everyone gets these freedoms like the way you dress and the way you look the color of your hair or skin. We have cruel people in our society and many people find it hard to feel free when everyone is beating down on them.
We have become a judgmental like the country has set standards that are not written in laws or in the courts and it is among the people. We feel not free at times because of this. The fact that people have set these things we are expected to look like and be like and act like. In the classroom students around the country are judged and don’t feel freedom. Parents and grandparents are all working jobs and don’t feel free. Freedom now days has changed so much for us and we have the ability to do some things but people are getting limited.
We have technology and all these advantages to build and discover. We can predict weather or design blue prints for houses and then build them. We have so much power over things some more than others. We have come so far. We made all of this possible in the constitution and in the liberty of life and the pursuit of happiness. But freedom is not a free as it sounds the money we spend on it is why we are in debt. We have the services and military. We’ve got one of the best military’s in the world. They have been deprived of some rights as well.
Our solders and sailors and Marines know that the overwhelming majority of them will be deprived of the opportunity to vote. Roosevelt 7) we don’t even think about all of these kinds of things. Merely we think about the bigger picture here such as what others are giving up for us to be and have freedom. You can disagree but you can’t deny our selfish ways. Independence Day is a holiday to recognize we have had this holiday set in place nationally to declare on that day of July 4th 1776 we are free. We all let off fireworks and barbecue and get the family together because we have that opportunity and we have these rights.
We’ve had this holiday for 235 years and counting. Another thing is we have taken it and we have manipulated it into a big thing not on the topic of what it is for. We have been around for as long as time has been. We take things for granted we’ve become a country theirs selfish and wrong. The biggest freedom we have taken for granted is freedom of speech. We we will call that card every time we have either said something rude or racist for that matter we abuse and misuse this freedom is has made us really stray away from what really matters.
For example people are using this against the police. They will mouth off and be extremely difficult with them they are then retaliating and then we hear story’s about people being shot by police and some story’s not all but some may have been prevented. We have people that then protest and call the police pigs and that’s the freedom they’ve been aloud. Protests at the Donald trump rally’s for instance people are to express what freedoms they have left because people like trump want to take their freedoms and that angers them and they protest and they are scared.
Another thing I want to address, gun laws hese gun laws that Obama put in made people protest. These freedoms our fore fathers gave us. We have the safety and feeling of protections. We let school shooting and buildings being shot up take our guns away. A few bad people made some very poor choices and we can’t let a couple of bad people who committed a crime take that right away. Freedom is and illusion what is it we can’t really be sure what it is maybe it’s an idea but it’s not a feeling. Freedom is what we’ve set in stone. We do not know how to think any different because we have been shaped this way.
We know that we’ve been told were free and we sometimes feel like that but it’s something even larger than that. Freedom has different meanings to different people but we do know that we have inalienable rights and all I’m sayings it that sometimes we may lose sight of what we’re here for and that answer to some is each other. We’ve done a lot together and we’ve done a lot independently but that does not settle for us. We need more and with more comes greater responsibility. That’s where we need to become more sophisticated. We’re going downhill in debt. It’s not easy or cheep to have freedom.
Our country is in trillions of debt and with that we are going to start cracking down on a lot more meaning less freedoms there’s going to be chaos to come I fear of. In closing freedom has came along way and you can take it any way you would like. Everyone has a different idea and everyone has their opinion and that’s what is so cool about freedom. The fact and manner in which it is there It lets people have their own opinion. Freedom gives you a voice and a right to question things and the manner in which they are done. This topic has been great to write on and has changed me and the information I’ve gotten influenced me tremendously.
