On my recent visit to South Texas Rehabilitation Hospital, where my grandmother is staying, I noticed how well the nurses and doctors where treating her. Since my grandmother has several complication, such as hard of hearing and stubbornness, nurses had a difficult time trying to work with her during therapy appointments, however, they wouldn’t give up on her or lose their patients. This got me thinking if all nurses and doctors, in all nursing homes, are as friendly and caring to elders such as my grandmother. Well, elders have feeling too, just because their old doesn’t mean there unable to function properly. Helen Love was living in a home in Sacramento, California. She was attacked by a certified nurse that was angered by her, “he chocked me and went and broke my neck and broke my wrist” (Love.1). Two days after her interview Helen Love passed away. The attacker got charged with abuse and one year in a county jail, officials also found three other employees, in that same facility, physically abusing elders. Elder abuse isn’t really physically beating an elder, its mostly taking advantage of their medical disabilities. Elder abuse means using their belonging to someone’s advantage weather its physically, emotionally, and financially.
