Should humans receive incentives for charitable acts? This question has been controversial over the last few years. Many people have seen an issue with this, believing that receiving incentives could send a morally wrong message but is that the case for everyone? I believe that wrongdoings sends a morally wrong message and not helping out the less fortunate is as much as a wrongdoing as not helping your fellow brethren. Helping others is good for ones own soul and others as well; it gives us a sense of hope and belonging. Whether its to fulfill ones own selfish needs or to truly help out others; the motive doesnt matter because the outcome is always the same. People should be for receiving incentives because the gains outweigh the losses.
I believe that charities should enforce the idea of incentives especially to the target audience of children. By getting children to donate at such a young age and getting something in return, they will want to donate in the future. If we were to stop incentives not only would we see a drop in donor participation but we would see a spike in humans who need the help provided by the charities. It would be a mistake; a total loss and one that might prove terminal. It sounds cruel but incentives are what keeps middle class Americans donating to charities. We dont have a crazy amount of money to give away like most one-percenters; especially with the economy and the way things are right now.
