The Day I Burned-Personal Narrative Essay

Flashing a few years back to when I was outside with my neighbor just playing like two normal kids would do on any other night after school. While we were outside, he had gone to use the bathroom inside and I stayed outside just moiseying around. When he came back outside from using the bathroom, he said, “lets try to shatter this pen I found with my bat. ” Shortly after I had responded to him with just a simple vague “ok. ” As the night went on he had gone to fetch his bat and proceeded to walk in front of me. At I didn’t realize he was actually serious about shattering the pen.

I thought he just joking. I mean, how could someone hit something small with such a big item? While he was standing right in front of me, he tends to throw the pen into the air and swings all the way through. By him swinging all the way through he had nailed me exactly on the bone right above my right eye, splitting the skin and slightly fracturing the bone. After he had hit me, I immediately said, “I’m gonna go inside now. ” As I am walking to my back door, I had placed my hand on my face with pressure trying to stop the pain. It was at that moment that I realized something was wrong.

I removed my hand from my face just glancing at it and had seen the palm of my hand loaded with blood. I immediately pressed my hand to my face again and started screaming pretty loud due to being freaked out about blood gushing from my head and not sure from what part though. After realizing what had happened I started running to my back door and scream fro my brother to open the door. I could have opened the door, but by the time I got there I had both my hand pressed to my head to stop the bleeding and pain, but it kept coming non-stop.

My brother rushed out of my room to open the door and was reaking and asking what happened. With out a doubt I bolted downstairs to find my mom as quick as I could. At the exact moment my mom was in the bathroom and had rushed out to see what was wrong. Soon after we were off to the hospital. All I remember on the ride up was my mom repeatedly asking, “are you ok? Did the bleeding stop yet? whats your pain level? ” Upon arrival at the hospital there was a doctor on duty, but there was one that was on call. With the doctor being on call i had ended up waiting about a half-hour to forty-five minutes before they even did anything to stop the bleeding or pain.

Eventually after the time had passed the doctor had finally showed up and was in my room and had talked to me about my pain level and what procedjure they were gonna do to stop the bleeding. He returned with a bottled substance and a gause bandage. The bottled substanc was a numbing solution that the doctor started putting on the gash above my eye. It felt like my eye was burning due to the open wound. The doctor ends up leaving the room to go get a set of stitches. My mom had taken over numbing the gash on my face.

After the numbing was done and set, the doctor starts putting the stitches in and got about half-way and then inflicted more pain to the amount I was already in. It turned out that only haly of the gash was numbed. He numbed the rest and got me all stitched up with a whole wopping 8 stitches. When I came leaving time to exit the hospital, I was asked if I wanted 2 freezy pop and of course I had said yes! By that time it was 12:30-1:00 in the morning. I ended up not going to school the next day due to the fact that I didn’t want to be judged with the way that society is today.

Having the right side of my face swollen, I would have been and easy target to be picked on. Eventually as the days passed my face became more normal and not swelled up. Later that week of the accident, I had seen my neighbor who had tryied to shatter the pen and all he had said was, “wow, that looks like it hurts. ” when I first saw him afterwards. Later he had said that he was sorry and that it was dumb of him to trying doing that. As of today we are no longer friends. Now to this day I get to live with a scar on my right eyebrow from him trying something pointless.
