Essay about Professional Soccer Player

My goal is to become a professional soccer player and once | retire become a sports commentator. A professional soccer player is an athlete who is paid to play for a soccer team at the professional level. Although being a professional soccer player for a job seems like little work, it actually involves a lot of high intensity work. Most teams have mandatory trainings up to 6 times a week, which include very hard workouts most people could not keep up with. Other duties include constantly watching your diet, attending mandatory games across the country, and during off season, hours of excruciating training.

On the high end, women professional soccer players can be paid up to $15 per hour and range anywhere between $6,000 and $30,000 per year. I would like to enter this career because I love traveling and absolutely love soccer. Playing professional soccer would allow me to travel the country while doing the thing that relives my stress. Many skills are needed for this job including communication skills, listening skills, and the ability to work as a team. You need communication skills so that you can perform better as a team on the field.

You should be able to easily talk to your teammates and tell them many commands when they receive the ball so they have an idea as to what to do next. Listening skills are also extremely important because you must be willing to listen to your teammates’ and coach’s commands while performing. If you are not able to listen without becoming angry you may not receive a ton of play time or learn anything. Probably the most important skill though, is being able to perform, you must be able to perform to the high set expectations of your team and coach at any given time and while under great amounts of pressure.

If you do not perform well you may be benched which can really effect the amount of money you make. Nobody wants to pay a player high amounts of money that does not receive a good amount of play time. Education for this job starts out when you are young. It is important to start your career of soccer as early as possible, so that you have many years to learn. Throughout your child hood you should play club soccer for your local team.

As you enter high school you should play for your high school team for different coaching experience and during the off season of high school play for a higher club that is in national league or a very high level of regional league. With this team you should attend many college showcases across the country to become noticed by college scouts. You may even want to attend college ID camps so that you have a feel for what it is like being coached by a college coach. After high school you need to attend a college to continue your career. There you must perform well and learn as much as possible to move on to the next level.

Many people who attend Division 1 are more prone to being noticed by a professional scout. In order to become a professional soccer player, I plan to continue playing for Cleveland Futbol Club until I graduate from high school and then attend a Division 1 college. I would like to attend Duke, the University of Michigan, or Penn State for my college experience. While still in high school I will attend many college ID camps so that I can experience what it’s like to be coached by a college coach. During my next four years with my Cleveland team, I will continue to showcase my talents, to college coaches, at many show cases across the country.

Also during my high school years, I will continue attending weekly personal training in order to become better at all areas of the sport. I will try and help pay for my college education by receiving a scholarship for soccer. In order to get a scholarship, I need to train hard and perform as best as I possibly can at showcases to be offered the best possible scholarship. While attending college I plan to receive a degree in order to become a sports commentator or a degree in sports education and business. During my off season from soccer, I plan to be a sports commentator for ESPN or to open up my own personal training business.

This will help me to make more money and allow me to continue to work after I retire from professional soccer. I would like to eventually be asked to commentate for the women’s FIFA world cup. If I do not follow through with my main plan because of injury or loss of interest, I would like to go to college solely for a degree in business and sports education. After graduating from college, I would open up a full time personal training business for soccer teams. There I would be able to teach many young players the game of soccer and help them to perfect their skills.
