Work and college can you do it. Yes, working in college is a must. There are many things you will get out of working while in college. Things other than just money, don’t get me wrong everyone loves money, who doesn’t it’s nice to have money in college. There are other things you will get from working in college, for example references, experience in your career field, life lessons, and even pay back school loans before they swallow you whole. These are only a few examples. I believe working while in college is one of the most important things you can do, in doing so you have given yourself a jump start on all the non-working students.
To start off with, having extra money in college is very helpful you can even pay of your loans. School loans we all have them and hate them. Well if you were to work while in college you would be able to pay back your school loans. This is a huge advantage over other students. Would you rather have 20,000 dollars in debt or little to no debt? I would choose the second option. Working in school gives you the option to do so. Working also gives you that extra jangle in your pocket everyone wants. For things you need and want, for example extra money for food, gas, clothes, or even taking that girl or guy out on that hot date.
Money is always needed in life from paying for rent and bills to that new pair of shoes. Another thing working in college will help you with is References, their always needed. The better the References you have the better off you will be. A reference from the right or wrong person can make or break you. The right Reference can mean a better job, better pay. If your reference gives you the best referral in the world. You’re going to be looked at like and all-star employee. That employer is going to do everything he can to get you to work for him. A good referral can also get you into a better school or better job.
On the other hand having bad references can kill your job search, it can make it hard to get a job if not impossible no one wants a terrible worker. There isn’t a job on this earth that you can get without some type of reference, other than the illegal kind. References are just for jobs. They can get you out of allot of trouble sometimes just by knowing the right people. It’s all about having someone give a good word on your behalf, for example if you get in trouble and the judge asks your peers what kind of a man you are and what’s your work ethic like and everyone gives you bad references your most likely to not get out f trouble and have an example made out of you teach you a lesson.
I have talked about a few examples, but the most important is the job experience. Getting job experience while in college is a very important thing. You will learn how to present yourself and how to act and not to act during an interview. There could be pretty important people in that interview or that interview could change your life. While in the process of all that you will learn how to make a resume and by applying for jobs you will learn how to improve it. Working in college will also build and add onto your resume preparing you for your career after college.
Having an all-star resume will throw you to the top of the candidates for your career or job you’re applying for, for example I am CNA at the hospital in Hutchinson and I am going to become a nurse where ever i apply they will see my past work as a CNA and how good i did my job and also if i became a nurse here at the hospital I will have a better chance of getting the job over others because of my experience and from already working there. In the end working while in college can help you in many ways. Working in college is one of the most important things you can do.
It gives you extra money and who doesn’t love that. You can pay off your debt so when you graduate you have nothing to pay back when you’re ready to start your career. You will also have a list of reference at your disposal, for example I will have over a dozen nurses that would give me an outstanding reference. You will build up job experience, so you know what to do in the career field of your choice. You will also have a jump on people that are fresh out of school with no exp. This experience will put you ahead of your peers and the people you are competing with for the job.
Jobs after college will be easier to get, for example if I wanted to get a job at HRMC they would most likely hire me before others because of my experience and because I’ve worked there and know how things are run and from working their they would pay for or help pay for my school work. In the end working while in college is one of the best things you could do for your future. I can’t emphasize that enough. Even if it’s only a few days out of the month or on weekends. Don’t be lazy and embrace your future and take control.
