Vigilante Justice In The Film The Dark Knight

The film ‘The Dark Knight’ directed by, Christopher Nolan, is a film about a League of Shadows that has been destroyed, but when a criminal mastermind who calls himself The Joker comes in to takes over the crime mob. Batman returns to battle his greatest threat yet. But with half the police force opposing but, as usual Batman manages to finish it off. The Dark Knight clearly shows and proves the theme of Vigilante justice and the main idea people or a group of community should not take laws on their hands as I could make a positive impact, or a really negative impact in a wide community.

An important event in the film is the interrogation scene, as it clearly indicates the uniqueness of most of the characters. The interrogation scene is an important scene because it shows the first time Batman and Joker meet, it decides the fate of Harvey, Rachel and Batman and shows the blurred line between good and evil. An important scene in the film The Dark Knight is the interrogation scene as it shows the first time Batman and Joker meet face to face. This scene of Batman meeting with the Joker face to face is seen throughout the use of lighting.

When the Jokers is first shown to the audience he is in a dark room lit by a single lamp. Suddenly the lights turned on and Batman was behind him, the camera zoomed in to his eyes to show how serious batman was and give a hint of how intense the relationship between the two characters are. This symbolizes but that Batman is coming out of the shadow and the joker is tense and under pressure, which is mirrored by his makeup rub off due to the sweat. Having the two main character meet face to face shows the audience they aren’t so different from each other.

This is proved through the use of costumes. Batman wear a sleep black amour costume which symbolizes evil while the Joker wears colourful cloths which usually symbolizes happiness. But in this movie the symbolism is the opposite. This teaches the audience a person is not to be judged by the type of clothes they wear, as that is not what they are like from the inside just like Batman. He may do things that are vigilante but he is a caring and a trustworthy man from the inside. This shown in the quote “Never start with the head, the victim gets all fuzzy.

He can’t feel the next. ” This shows that people don’t always forfeit from the first time they meet, if they are strong they have a revenge which is even stronger. A person should never but underestimated as the first impression is not always a last impression. This reminds me of “May my enemies live long enough to see my success” This shows that every enemies take revenge from each other with is greater than the previous one and everybody want to finish it off with a win. Just like with Batman and the Joker.

The face to face meeting of Batman and the Joker is an important scene as helps the audience to understand the intense battle they are fighting and from the inside they are scared of one another, mostly the Joker. It also helps to understand the contrast between the two main characters of the film An important scene in the film The Dark Knight is the interrogation scene as it shows the fate of Harvey, Racheal and Batman. The Joker forces Batman to decide who to save, it was between his love Rachel or the Harvey the White Knight. Rachel ends up dying and Harvey end up getting horrific burns to half his body.

Seen through the use of music. Razor blade running up and down piano wires create tension and panic feeling for the audience. This helps the audience to understand how important this scene is in the movie. The situation forces Harvey Dent to change from white night to something evil. We start to see there is positive and negative in all human beings it all need to descend when something terrible happens. This is because he lost the one he loved, due to that he loose hope and faith in good. This is shown through the use of the dialogue “Do you know what it’s like to lose someone you love?

To tell them it’s going to be alright when you know it’s not. ” This shows the audience that the character of Batman would chose to save someone for personal reasons rather than someone that could help others. It shows that he isn’t selfless as we think he is, he doesn’t have personal motives. This reminds me of a quote once many years ago “True love is selfless. It is prepared to sacrifice. ” People who truly love each other can scarifies their lives, they do it without a second thought as they can’t live without that person which is truly close to their lives.

This scene is important as it teaches me the capability of the character of Batman, and Harvey as he lost control over himself and turned for good to evil due to the loss of his loved one. This proves that anger is a type of violence that gets into a person’s head which can lead to may negative actions. An important scene in the film The Dark Knight is the interrogation scene as is shows there is a blurred line between the good and evil. This is a scene where we see the truth of Batman, as he is not good as we think.

Which is why he is referred to as the Dark Knight. He does bad things which covers and covers it with good. Rather than taking a less violent action he tortured the joker in order to gain information about Harvey and Rachel. We see a high angle on the Joker on the ground and low looking up at Batman standing over him as he hits him, his camera angle makes the Joker look powerless and Batman look powerful. This angle turns out to have an opposite effect because they show Batman losing control over his power that has been very effective up till this point.

The Jokers enjoys this seeing this thing happen from the floor. This teaches us about the character of Batman, that he does have flaws that every normal human being would have. The event takes place when he finds out about Rachel and does some very bad things in the hopes of it helping him. This is shown through the use of the dialogue “You have nothing! Nothing to threaten me with! Nothing to do with all your strength. But don’t worry. I’m going to tell you where they are.

Both of them. And that’s the point. You’ll have to choose. This shows the audience that Batman is not the always the innocent one, the most humble person can turn violent, when that person is in trouble as violence is a reaction to most peoples anger. It also proves that there is evilness in a positive person. This reminds me of the modern day terrorists, as they have no concern for there, or anyone else’s safety and wellbeing. Batman can be compared to the modern fight against terrorism, as no matter what he does or tries to do, people are killed and taken to hostage.

There are people who do that and don’t realise how much crime they create, they also take millions of innocent lives to prove their point, which is very unlikely to be considered. This is an important scene as it unfolds the difference and reality between the good and evil it also shows the audience the other side of Batman and the capability of the Joker. The Dark Knight directed by Christopher Nolan, the Dark Knight clearly shows and proves the theme of Vigilante justice and the main idea people or a group of community should not take laws on their hands as I could make a positive impact, or a really negative impact in a wide community.

The interrogation scene is an important scene because it shows the first time Batman and Joker meet, it decides the fate of Harvey, Rachel and Batman and shows the blurred line between the good and evil. The film create very interesting scenes which makes it easier for the audience to understand the film. This film is suitable for teenagers and young adults, as it shows the relationship with the modern day crimes that take place today, as well as the struggles that every good and evil person that would face.
