He pushes Montfleury off the stage, insulting forty-eight persons in the process. Valvert insults Cyrano by making an observation about his nose, so they duel. They fight whilst dueling because Cyrano recites a ballade he has written and wins the fight. Everyone was overjoyed and gave him their congratulations.

Cyrano is in love with Roxane but is too shy to tell her. He gets a letter from her and Cyrano reads the letter aloud to Ragueneau, Chrispin de Passepartout, and Le Bret. Cyrano loves the way Roxane writes but he also hates that she loves someone else. Cyrano decides that he will help Christian win Roxane’s heart.

Christian goes to Cyrano for help. Cyrano tells him what to say and how to act around Roxane. Cyrano coaches Christian on how to speak and behave. Cyrano tells Christian that he will kill him if he ever reveals his secret.

Roxane falls in love with Christian and they get married. Cyrano is happy for them but he is still in love with Roxane. Cyrano dies and Christian reveals Cyrano’s secret. Roxane is heartbroken but she understands why Cyrano did what he did.
