Reflection On Declaration Of Independence Essay

On Monday April 5th 1999, I had come into the world. If you had asked me then what my opinion of the Declaration of Independence was, I wouldnt be able to come up with a clear nor concise answer, which would be due to the fact that I was only a few hours old and most likely still wailing out uncontrollably. After fifteen years of living in this just society, I have come to a conclusion on how I feel about Thomas Jefferson had written so many years ago. We, as a society, have failed the goals that our founding fathers wished for us to achieve. With each passing day, we are growing farther away from the ideals laid out in the Declaration of Independence.
The United States of America had come to be with the signing of a well thought out declaration of our independence. However, I doubt that we as Americans keep in mind the original ideals of the brave men who signed this bill to our freedom. Everything thats laid out in the Declaration of Independence is a great foundation for building a nation upon. As generation after generation takes control of America, they should have enhanced these basic ideals. However, this had definitely not been the case. Thus making it the responsibility of my generation to cover the damage. We are being handed this mess of a nation and I trust that my peers wont make it worse. I dont expect us to fix everything in just a lifetimes, after all there are centuries of damage that we must repair. We the students must find the strength to not repeat history but to improve upon it. The goal is to learn from our parents mistakes so that we prevent them from ever happening again.
