The Quiet Or The Little Princess: A Short Story Essay

Ever since Caroline was born, she had been anything but The Quiet or The Little Princess her parents had expected. At only 21 hours old, Caroline would Scream at the top of her lungs when she was put down. Whether it was in Cars, Planes, at Home in her crib, or anywhere but her mother’s arms. When she finally went to sleep, Caroline was a Sleeping Beauty. It was enough to make anyone become a Trainwreck. As she grew Up to the age of 4, Caroline traded her constant crying for the Jaws to outtalk a famous politician. She said and did things that most people were not Brave enough to.

More often than not, her parents would be Frozen in horror over what their Precious daughter did in public. For example, once Caroline decided to act like Tarzan and run across a resturaunt before her parents could get to her. Everyone she ran by was greeted by loud monkey sounds and horrible faces. When she got to the dessert tray, Caroline picked up a huge chocolate cake The Lion King style and then abruptly ate as much as she could before her Snow White faced parents could get to her. They paid the bill and ran from the restaruant faster than Forrest Gump.

Another particular Time was when Caroline’s family was staying at a friend’s home that Caroline was rather intrigued with. While Caroline’s mother was unpacking and enjoying The Silence, she realized something was not right; Caroline was never quiet. The frantic woman ran throughout the huge Dream Home in search of her daughter. She had checked almost every room when she heard the sound of running water in one of the bathrooms. Running into the open door, the frantic mom found her daughter filling up a bathtup with a hairdryer at her side.

With a sigh Caroline said to her Stone cold mother, “I am giving it a bath Mom, if you have to know. ” Caroline then experienced some very memorable ‘time out’. Later that evening while Caroline’s father was watching her, Caroline had once again been unusually quiet. Knowing of the incident with her mother earlier that day, Caroline’s father ran straight to the bathroom in search of the roudy little girl. Sure enough, the bathroom door was locked and all that could be heard was the soft humming of Caroline.

Thankfully, all electric hazards had been tucked safely away out of her reach, but that did not mean she would not find something else. So Caroline’s father began madly knocking on the door for several minutes when he finally recieved a, “Just a moment, I am extremely busy you know. ” That comment recieved a ‘Open this door right now or else’ with such a tone even Caroline knew to stop. And with that, the door was opened. Caroline’s father was awestruck at the mess he saw before him. The entire bathroom floor was covered with at least 27 Dresses of Caroline and her mother’s.

The bathroom mirror was covered in such a thick layer of sticky Hairspray, that Caroline’s father couldn’t even see how red his face was with anger. And when he went to pick up his daughter, his feet sloshed in Oceans of some sort of liquid that he then realized covered the entire floor; bleach. According to Caroline she had been trying to clean by wetting the floor with some bottle of something she saw her mother use and mop it up with towels. When she ran out of towels, she grabbed dresses. It had been A Hard Day for her parents to say the least.

While they spent The Hours of their Weekend cleaning up such a horrible mess, Caroline had to sit in the corner in her newly bleached dress. The last adventure that will be told was when Caroline was in a huge department store in the city. While her mother was occupied, Caroline was supposed to be watch by none other than The Author’s mother or as Caroline called her, ‘FeFe’. Well, it had been quite a few years since FeFe had ever had to watch the every move of a little girl and while she looked away for no more than 8 seconds, Caroline had hopped on the elevator to who knew where; she was practically Gone With The Wind.

So frantically, FeFe told Caroline’s mother what had happened. The Chase after the little girl began. Her mother raced down Flight after flight of stairs to reach the bottom so she wouldn’t be able to leave. However, when she finally did reach the bottom, Caroline’s mother’s heart was overfilled with joy when she saw her little girl with a kind looking lady. Since then Caroline has gotten a new little sister. Perhaps there will be a sequel to this all too true story in the not so distant future.
