Wednesday, Today was my first day back. Today started out fast pace. I knew that it would though. It seem seems like there is never a break. As soon as I walked in the door, I am confronted with questions. One particular case that stood out to me was a lady who I have been working with for a while, se asked me to help her find housing within a five mile radius of Mary’s outreach center. She depends on Mary’s place to help with her basic needs. Her child has lead poising ad she is under investigation. CPS is involved because the child tested positive for lead poising.
Even the child is only three months they have to be involved. They are not very pleasant to talk to either. We are always having a three-way conversation. My client has a hard time speaking English so cps speaks to her and she looks at me so I can break the question down to her. Most of the time || respond to the CPS worker directly and ask her to slow down her words so I don’t have to interpret. The paper work that the cps worker expected my cline to fill out was complicated, even for me and I have been going to school all my life.
My client have never been to school in her entire life and the expect her to fill out over thirteen forms. That wasn’t going to happen, so I filled them out for her. From this particular situation I value my education even more than I did before. In American if a person does not have education they are going to have a very hard time adapting to society. At the end of the day everything worked out for the best the child is receiving treatment for his condition and the child is still with the mother. Thursday,
Today was fast pace; I had to write a business model because Mary’s place is trying to start a business model to raise money. At Mary’s place they have people assigned they’re to complete work experience hours, which is required by the department of social security. We are trying to change their work job description to jewelry creator. Their current job description is janitorial services. I am very excited for this project to start because this project will allow Mary’s place to receive funding so that we can do more things within the community.
My client from yesterday came in and wanted to show me some information about a travel loan that she received n the mail. My client is from Africa; the price was seven thousand dollars for her to move her family from Africa to the United States. The loan has not been paid for three month and they are charging her a fee. I had to call the loan company and ask them to freeze the loan so they she could find some extra money to pay on the loan. It seems like I am always doing something very simply or something very hard. I am very thankful to have my peers near me so I can ask them for assistance.
Everyday is always different so I have to remember as much information as I can, because | can speak to someone on the phone and hang up after the call and have to call them right back in less than twenty minutes for a different client and situation. This is a reminder to make sure that I use goo manners when speaking to someone because I do not know if I will need them again. Although I am certain that I will at some point. Friday, Today was a very good day. I felt a lot of self-satisfaction today. It was very fast pace of course, the self-satisfaction came from being successful when helping others.
Today I had several people come back to me and tell me thank you for helping them. Several of our refugees became citizens on Friday. I had a feeling that I haven’t felt in along time. After several people told thank you, I started to seethe world in a more positive way! cam to work expecting to just help people. Someone saying thank you to me just completely changed my way. Its like they were say I understand how hard you work and I truly appreciate everything you do. I noticed that I address the client in a more positive manner also.
I always try my best with everything, I just feel like I was a little bit more productive today. I was able to contact Medicaid insurance and got over three people full coverage. We had a pizza party for the children today because it was the last day of English classes for them a the Mary’s outreach center. Today was a good day. I think I am going to take this weekend off and watch some of my favorites shows Orange is the new black and Supernatural. Hah I shouldn’t fool myself; I have too much homework to do, to take a break. Times like this reminds me of my favorite speech Eric Thomas.
